Re: [pakgrid] A Mini-Conference on Teaching Entrepreneurship in Pakistan

Dear Ali,
Thank you very much for looking at the course outline and your message.  This outline is for a full semester course not just for engineers, but business students as well.  Actually, it would be best to teach it in a course where a mixture of business and engineering students are enrolled.  Basic idea here is two folds: Impart training to students for evaluating a lab-level successful engineering project from business viability perspective and provide feedback to our research community on their lab-level success from developed technology's commercialization potential.  It seems to me that this course is very much in-line with the two papers you shared with me.

It will be very useful to receive feedback on which topics could be de-emphasized or omitted from the outline while still achieving objectives stated above, as much as possible.

Dear Sir Qasim,
I went through the entire course outline. I have my doubts that most engineers are able to grasp all the new concepts within 16 weeks of teaching. And as with any skill oriented course there are even lesser chances that this can be practised by the students. I think to support this kind of coursework there can be 3 or 4 small workshops to work on the basic terms and concepts and after that this course would be useful if students can work on one project for the entire course.

Regards,
Ali

Hello !

Respected Entrepreneurship Teachers ,

Here is an event being organized by DEEP(deep.org.pk). You are invited to participate in this event. Please forward this email to folk also.

"A Mini-Conference on Teaching Entrepreneurship in Pakistan"

As Entrepreneurship has started making its footprints in Pakistan, Higher Education Institutions (HEI) are making serious efforts to promote entrepreneurship in their institutions. The development of technology incubators in most of leading universities, offering opportunities of start-up funding and introducing the course of entrepreneurship to all the students irrespective of the faculty, are some of the major steps academia has taken. However, we still feel that there is a need to discuss other possibilities on how HEIs can effectively contribute towards entrepreneurial eco-system through teaching.

As a first step, we at *DEEP are intend to have a meet-up to brainstorm methodologies on teaching of entrepreneurship at HEIs in Pakistan.

Proposed program:

Date: May 2, 2013

Time: 10 AM - 01 PM
Venue: National University of Science and Technology (NUST)

Regards

Mansoor
