Re: [pakgrid] Clean H2O mobile project, mLab ECA

The Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources could be the right organization for such cooperation.

Dear colleagues,

One of the mLab ECA has come up with a solution that allows to check the quality of water using your phone and a small device that is incorporated in the phone's cover. The laboratory prototype of the device has already been created as well as the software that analyzes the data, collects statistics, etc.

Currently, the team is working on the commercial prototype of the solution. The business model the team is considering involves partnerships with non-profit organizations that conduct water quality testing worldwide. Interested non-profit water organizations active in Pakistan (preferably the ones performing water quality checks) may contact at the following address;

Dear Saif,

I would like to request your assistance for the following.  One of the teams that we support within mLab ECA has come up with a solution that allows to check the quality of water using your phone and a small device that is incorporated in the phone's cover.  The laboratory prototype of the device has already been created as well as the software that analyzes the data, collects statistics, etc.  This project was the finalist of Microsoft's largest student competition Imagine Cup in Armenia and represented Armenia in the Imagine Cup worldwide finals in Australia where it generated a lot of interest.

Currently, the team is working on the commercial prototype of the solution. At the same time, we are helping them in reaching out and establishing new partnerships that are crucial for this project's entrance into the market.  The business model that we are considering involves partnerships with non-profit organizations that conduct water quality testing worldwide.  We hope that such partnerships will allow to involve some serious private funding (including possible assistance from Microsoft global).  Therefore, I would very much appreciate if you could help the team in establishing contacts with non-profit water organizations active in your country (preferably the ones performing water quality checks) and the region, if you know any.  All they need is contacts and an informal introduction that will speak to the seriousness of the initiative so their emails/calls don't remain unanswered.

It is expected to have the commercial prototype ready by the end of this year.  In case any of the international water NGOs/donors is interested in this project, the team is ready to fly over to Pakistan for demonstration and discussions.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Mariam Davtyan

Project Manager
