Dear All,

We are pleased to inform you that the International Conference on Emerging Technologies 2011 (ICET 2011) to be held on 5-6 September 2011 has announced Tutorials/Workshops in various exciting areas mentioned below.
OpenFlow by Dr. Ali Khayyam and Dr. Affan Syed
Software Defined Networking (SDN) is a new concept which holds the promise to accelerate innovation in networking research and products. There will be a talk about ongoing research on applications of OpenFlow in different environments. Finally, there will be a hands-on demonstration of using OpenFlow compliant switches and controllers.
Technology in Education by Dr. Ashraf Iqbal (LUMS)

Our conventional system of education places more emphasis on rote based learning; which discourages students to think critically. There is a need to shift from this paradigm. In this tutorial, we discuss the idea of "meaningful learning", and how it is different from the skills acquired while solving text book problems - in other words, how can we design conceptual questions that promote critical thinking in a variety of science subjects. We also discuss how technology can be used to enhance the learning experience, focusing on the application of several new technological tools for effective learning.
Foundation SystemC by Dr. Waqar Nabi

This tutorial will be of relevance to those interested in digital design of Integrated Circuits, especially at a system‐level. Basic digital electronics concepts and programming concepts are required. Knowledge of object‐oriented concepts in general and in context of C++ in particular would be a bonus.

The workshops and tutorials will have a very defined hands-on aspect and would give the attendees an opportunity to experience the technology being presented. For more details and registration please refer to the website below:
