I would suggest you to go for MS in Computer Networks. This filed suits to Telecom Engineer and it has good job scope in Pakistan and abroad as well.

if you have interest in programming, go for it . i would suggest you to do at least one job before going
to Masters. But, CS is far better than telecom if you have skills in it.

Dear Sajid,

Both wavelengths should match.

Either both of them (tx and rx side) should be 1310 or 1550.

There should not be any compatibility issue while connecting two different vendors except power and wavelengths.

Please mention Cisco SFP your are using.

E.g

Cisco SFP-10G-LR has tx and rx wavelength of 1260nm to 1355nm.

If wavelength tx from other end is not in range (i-e 1550) link will never come up whether their power is normal.

Cisco SFP-10G-ER has tx and rx wavelength of 1530nm to 1565nm.

dear Umair bhai,

thank you for your technical and valueable comments but problem is that both of them one will be 1550nm SFP while other is 1310 nm SFP their power is measured that is good but link is still down i think there is some compatibility problem with SFP.

These should be both side 1310 nm, 1550 nm or as mention above which configuration is correct while connecting two machines.

my experience is using 1550(tx) nm followed by 1310(rx) nm

Distance is not issue while connecting two SFPs of different vendor if we talk about compatibility.

Its their operating wavelengths that should be matched (1310 or 1550 nm)

Also power thresholds/ranges should be kept in mind (power rx should be in SFP range)

If you are becoming telecom engineer and really wana have a good career then you must start thinking about doing CCNA or Juniper certifications.. It would be Best for you if you get these kind of certifications before your degree ends. You would get job for sure.

you can do networking courses like CCNA or Juniper's. If you are in Lahore, UET Lahore has training centers of ZTE and HUAWEI, they offer training (mostly 5-10 days. these are also good use of spare time.
