Hello

Maybe someone can help me figure out why I have my problem. When I first got my system 4 years ago it worked very well. I could get my Motosat set up and working very well. Since I use solar to power my computer and other needs, I shut off the system when I am not using it. When I would need the system again I would just turn it on and all of the lites on the DW7000S would come on after a few seconds. Now it can take a few as 5 minutes to over an hour before it will lock on and all the lites comes on. I tried calling Motosat and they told me to check my cables, of course the cables were ok and they said maybe the transmitter was going soft on me. I replace my 1 watt transmitter with a 2 watt unit. You guess it, no help what so ever. The receive lite comes on but it can take 5 minutes to over an hour for the transmitt lite and system lite to come on. When they come on all is fine. I have tried to do a forced ranging, but the problem still remains. Something has changed but I am not sure if it is on my end or Motosat's end. I did buy my Motosat system used and I did the install and got it working myself. It wasn't much different than installing boat radars in the navy, in a lot of ways it was far simpler. It is a F1 dish with a D3 controller and the DW7000S modem running the Bill Gates abortion called Win XP on the computer.

Will I am not sure about this but since you said motostat,,, there are
times when it will get a software update in the background.. these pertain
to the dish auto aiming feature.. (satellites drift a bit I am told) and
the aiming files need to be updated... but this is just a guess on my part.

(note to Sean: The Motosat dishes do not receive background updates)

Will, it probably doesn't matter, but can you tell us what modem you have? There is no DW7000S, just DW7000 and HN7000S, and they are quite different animals.

What satellite and transponder are you assigned to? Does the controller configuration match what the modem says (Hughes routinely changes the satellite assignment for the modem, and you have to manually change the controller to match)?

What is your receive signal strength? (strength in the modem, called quality in the controller)
