Have been having a problem I have not seen before. The transmit and system lights drop out for a few seconds (or maybe 10 seconds) and then come back on. I watched what was happening on the Home/System Status page: the Transmit Status was changing from TxCode 8 to TxCode 5 (transmitter locking to receive carrier). The SS stays at ~ 74-76. I can access the Internet but it takes much longer with the dropouts. We are on 117W/1090. Any ideas on what it going on and how to fix this?

Hmmmm? I wonder if SatMex5 is finally starting to fall out of its orbit.
That was predicted for 2012, but never happened.

Anyone hear any status as to launch of a replacement for SatMex5?

Take care,

Barb

Intermittent anything is not a symptom of what will happen when it fails (it won't fall, either, but it will be unusable).

SatMex8, the replacement, is currently scheduled for launch on March 26th. It was completed and delivered at the beginning of December, but there have been problems with the launch facilities that have delayed it.
