The International Standards Organization (ISO)

OSI
LAYERS

The International Standards Organization (ISO) has
defined a standard called the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) reference
model. This is a seven layer architecture listed below. Each layer is
considered to be responsible for a different part of the communications. This
concept was developed to accommodate changes in technology. The layers are
arranged here from the lower levels starting with the physical (hardware) to
the higher levels.

•
Application
•
Presentation
•
Session
•
Transport
•
Network
•
Data Link
•
Physical

Application Layer
•
Serves as a window for applications to access network services.
•
Handles general network access, flow control and error recovery.

Presentation Layer
•
Determines the format used to exchange data among the networked computers.
•
Translates data from a format from the Application layer into an intermediate
format.
•
Responsible for protocol conversion, data translation, data encryption, data
compression, character conversion, and graphics expansion.
•
Redirector operates at this level.

Session Layer
•
Allows two applications running on different computers to establish use and end
a connection called a Session.
•
Performs name recognition and security.
•
Provides synchronization by placing checkpoints in the data stream.
•
Implements dialog control between communicating processes.

Transport Layer
•
Responsible for packet creation.
•
Provides an additional connection level beneath the Session layer.
•
Ensures that packets are delivered error free, in sequence with no losses or
duplications.
•
Unpacks, reassembles and sends receipt of messages at the receiving end.
•
Provides flow control, error handling, and solves transmission problems.

Network Layer
•
Responsible for addressing messages and translating logical addresses and names
into physical addresses.
•
Determines the route from the source to the destination computer.
•
Manages traffic such as packet switching, routing and controlling the
congestion of data.

Data Link Layer
•
Sends data frames from the Network layer to the Physical layer.
•
Packages raw bits into frames for the Network layer at the receiving end.
•
Responsible for providing error free transmission of frames through the
Physical layer.

Physical Layer
•
Transmits the unstructured raw bit stream over a physical medium.
•
Relates the electrical, optical mechanical and functional interfaces to the
cable.
•
Defines how the cable is attached to the network adapter card.
•
Defines data encoding and bit synchronization

Please give us some suggestions of  OSI Layer how to apply

Sharing || A few words about Afghanistan

Dear All,

Recently I have received alot of queries from several guys regarding Kabul & Afghanistan.
I thought of sharing it on zumbeel/groups so that its beneficial for more people.

First things first. Kabul is quite safe. Dont be taken away by media canvassing etc. Even yesterday's attack, which media was showing as if entire Kabul was effected, resulted in little expat casuality. The key point to remember is that, almost always; the target areas are embassies & NATO bases. You wont be going there as per your job requirement, so its not an issue. Even if you do go there, notice that no expat was killed yesterday!

Outside Kabul, its still safe as long as you exercise caution. I know Pakistani guys who have been in Afghanistan for more than four years & doing field implementation, & have never received a scratch. North is extremely beautiful & South is overall safe- minus Helmand in nights. No company will ever ask you to be in Helmand in night!

Weather of Kabul is awesome- just like Muree. Its 100 times better than Lahore & Islamabad in summer.
You can find cooks who will cook Pakistani dishes.

A quick word on market update:

There are four GSM operators in Afghanistan. Roshan, Etisalat, MTN & AWCC. Roshan leads with Etisalat not too far behind.
Etisalat recently launched 3G in Kabul. Most other operators will be catching soon.
@ this moment, its a good idea to join Roshan, MTN or Etisalat if you wanna earn hands on 3G experience.

Secondly, MTN has given E2E Managed Services to Ericsson. This is a good time to enter Ericsson if its your dream company.

The only two points of caution are:

The cost of living is hell high. So if you forget to put something in your luggage bag, you will pay it dearly. Doctors are very few, & American/expat doctors are insanely expensive. Better go to your home country, get treated & return. There have been several cases when local doctors spoiled simple cases of fever, headache. Try avoiding local doctors as much as possible.

The medicines are difficult to find. They come either from Pk or Iran. In any case, its quality is pathetic. Companies are openly exporting sub standard medicines to Afg @ extremely high prices.
Better to take most medicines of common usage with you. I have seen mostly people suffering from indigestion ( I dont know why), fever, flu and headache.

Finally, Afghans are humble, conservative and nice people. Never judge them using BCC/CNN. They are frank, friendly & honest. I am yet to find a community that is 100% honest. Bad people are in every society. My interaction with locals so far has been extremely good. I dont remember a single instance of dishonesty with me.

You should learn a few words of Persian before leaving for Kabul. Most Pathans also speak Darri ( a variant of Persian) in Kabul. So only knowledge of Pashtu may not help.
I find Pashtu tough to learn as compared to Darri.

Below site has good simple tutorial for learning basic Darri

All the best,
 Assalamoalekum
