[pakgrid] Innovative Ideas to Jumpstart Pakistan's Manufacturing Sector

Dear All:

Pakistan Innovation Foundation is a private-sector driven, publicly supported non-profit entity created to promote innovation within Pakistan's private sector and the broader society. It seems to do so by empowering Pakistani youth, professionals, entrepreneurial companies, and citizen innovators.

In the lead up to the announcement of its Launch Initiative, PIF is seeking to solicit ideas that could help solve Pakistan's development and competitive challenges.

To that effect, PIF is looking for ideas for problems that need to be solved in Pakistan's Manufacturing Sector. Manufacturing is - and still remains - a cornerstone for any country's march to development. In Pakistan, Manufacturing is going through a crisis that threatens to seriously undermine the sector altogether. Lack of skilled labor, energy shortages, and rising costs of doing business have all but elminated manufacturing industry from Pakistan.

Could the power of innovation be used to address some of these challenges and jumpstart a revival of manufacturing in Pakistan?

We're looking for ideas - big and small - that could help do this. These could be things that:

a) reduce waste,
b) enhance competitiveness,
c) improve safety,
d) improve energy efficiency,
e) increase efficiency of the process,
f) enhance worker productivity, or
g) add value and create new downstream products, etc. etc.

Think of a technical challenge that needs to be solved that will create a big impact on Pakistan's industrial performance - in light or heavy engineering industry or elsewhere. Please be as specific as you can.
As a starting point of this discussion, please don't focus on what you can solve, focus instead on what must be solved first.

You may also participate in our facebook discussion: https://www.facebook.com/PakistanInnovationFoundation

Please share or like or spread the word around to those who might have some ideas.

Here is your chance to flex your brain to help define some problems.

Best Regards,
Athar
