[pakgrid] IPv6 Launch Day

 

 June 6, 2012, marks the World IPv6 Launch Day in which participating websites and service providers -- including Google, Yahoo and Facebook are permanently enabling IPv6 traffic.

University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore is also taking part in this Launch Day by enabling IPv6 on its official website http://www.uet.edu.pk/ . Dual stack connectivity has been configured i.e. both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. The public IPv6 address of university site is 2001:470:36:5d8::998 whereas IPv4 address is 111.68.102.6.
 
IPv6 Connectivity can be verified through the following website.

You can visit IPv6 enabled sites through the following website if you don't have IPv6 connectivity.
http://www.ipv6proxy.net
 
Currently, IPv6 connectivity has been configured using Hurricane Electric Tunnel Broker Services (http://he.net/) and PfSense Firewall (http://www.pfsense.org/). In near future, dual stack connectivity will be provided through HEC PERN 2 network.
