Apologies for possible multiple postings.
9th International Conference on 'High-capacity Optical Networks and Emerging Technologies' (HONET)
Submission Deadline: 14 September 2012
Substantially extended versions of high-quality papers will be printed in reputed journals (IEEE & Elsevier)!
CALL FOR PAPERS
General Information
Global Optical Networks enable the High-speed Internet by utilizing various photonic- and wireless- networks, lambda grids, and fiber-optic links over the vast landscape of our planet. These are the workhorse for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) from the architectural, security, signal transport and application perspectives. Photonics and Optoelectronics are the disciplines that have emerged from the "fundamental light-matter interaction" and its engineering applications.
At the core level, it starts from fundamental principles of optics and optical materials and encompasses the micro/nano-fabrication of semiconductor devices, components, and functional modules and sub-assemblies. On the application side, such devices enable the ICT and constitute physical layer of contemporary infrastructure.
IEEE and IEEE ComSoc are technical co-sponsors of HONET 2012; the 9th International Conference hosted by KHAS University will be held in Istanbul, Turkey. HONET has now become a full conference serving an emerging region with a broad global participation. It contains multi-tracks in ICT, e-applications, and emerging technologies e.g., nanotechnology for ICT, and energy-harvesting devices and materials. HONET will also include focused workshops and specialized short-courses co-located with the main conference. HONET 2012 will span over three days of technical and visionary presentations as well as industrial show/exhibits. It will include keynote addresses and various plenary sessions in areas consistent with the theme and objectives. As a part of its legacy, the major objective of the 9th HONET as International Conference is to bring together participants from US, Turkey (host), Bosporus and SAMENA (South-Asia, Middle-East, & North-Africa) regions, as well as other world-wide researchers, educators, students, and industry professionals for sharing the knowledge and experience and furthering collaborations. The HONET 2012 thematic focus expanded to include "Role of ICT in Development". HONET has now a broader appeal of "Emerging/Enabling Technologies", covering photonic-devices, lasers, transceivers, routers, optical amplifiers, and other complementary communication technologies as well as optics and nanotechnologies in medicine and information processing. It covers nanophotonics for high-speed internet from building-block components to energy efficiency, e-science and e-healthcare; cloud computing, network security and enabling technologies.

PAPERS
Authors are invited to submit R&D and visionary papers presenting original research work related to the practice and theory of "High-capacity Optical Networks & Emerging /Enabling Technologies". Related proposals for workshops and short-courses will also be considered. All submissions must describe original and pertinent research, development, and future vision.
The topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
Internet Mobility, 4 G Services and OWA beyond LTE Green ICT-energy
efficient devices & networks
Optical networks for storage, grids & cloud computing Convergence of
metro/optical access

Physiological Sensing and Imaging
These topics should be discussed in terms of research findings, concepts, state-of-the-art, standards, implementations, developments, field trials/experiments, educational goals and new applications. Submitted or substantially similar papers must not be under review currently for any other publication. The received papers will be peer reviewed using "IEEE standards and criteria". Authors should note that only the accepted and presented papers will be eligible for final proceedings. The accepted but unregistered and/or un-shepherd/un-presented submissions will be omitted from all proceedings.
JOURNAL PUBLICATIONS:
Substantially extended versions of high-quality papers will be printed in reputed journals (IEEE & Elsevier). Articles for Journal publication may be subject to further reviewing by guest editors according to IEEE guidelines and Journals' policies. Separate Journal publication charges may apply.
WORKSHOPS: Following topics are suggested but other areas can also be considered.
Beyond LTE- Open Wireless Architecture (OWA) 100Gbps and Beyond

Further updates on the workshops, poster papers, conference papers and program can be found at http://honet-ict.org and its companion websites.
Instructions for Authors
All paper submissions will be handled electronically through EasyChairTM.
Authors should prepare PDF-compliant version of their papers not exceeding five (5) double-column pages. Paper format/ template with font sizes and the guidelines, and copyright form are available at the HONET homepage.
The first page of the paper must contain an informative title, abstract, and name(s) of author(s) with respective affiliations, postal address(es), phone/fax numbers, and email address(es). The corresponding author must be clearly identified. Additionally, five keywords relevant to the research paper or thematic areas must also be listed (as per template). All submissions will be peer-reviewed, and the accepted papers will be eligible for conference proceedings and in (TBA), and high-quality papers will be considered for special issues of professional societies' Journals relevant to the topics (Approval Pending).
All HONET papers must be submitted at
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=honet2012 but the workshop and short courses proposal should be sent to TPC and General Chairs. All deadlines are 11:59 pm US Eastern Standard Time (EST).
