Research Fellow - Analysing Security and Privacy Properties
Salary from £27,578 to £38,140 a year.
The post is available for 18-30 months.
The Computer Security research group in the School of Computer Science is
looking for a Research Fellow to join their EPSRC funded Analysing
Security and
Privacy properties project.
The project aims to develop methods and techniques for developing, deploying
and analysing security protocols and security APIs, including those
involved in
electronic voting and trusted computing. This includes high-level designs and
analysis in the formal methods model. In particular, one aspect of the
project
concerns ways to balance use privacy and system security when they are in
conflict.
The Research Fellow will conduct internationally leading research in computer
security and privacy, and its analysis. S/He will develop research objectives
and proposals for own or joint research and will contribute to writing future
bids for research funding. S/He will also analyse and interpret research

To apply you must hold a first degree in an area of Computer Science,
mathematics or a related discipline, and have completed, or be near
completion
of a PhD degree relevant to the research area or equivalent qualifications or
research experience. You should have a proven high level of analytical
capability and mathematical skills, as well as research experience in
security
protocols and their analysis using formal methods. We would expect you to
have
fluency in relevant models, techniques or methods and ability to
contribute to
developing new ones.
Informal enquiries may be made to Prof. Mark Ryan (m.d.ryan@cs.bham.ac.uk) at
the School of Computer Science.
