Dear All,
We are living in interesting and exciting times for the Internet. Having
passed the 2-billion-user mark in 2010, the Internet continues to prove
just how vital a communications tool it is. We all are very active users
of Internet in our different capacities and working for public and private
organizations.
The Internet Society ( www.ISOC.org ) is an International initiative and
continue to ensure that the Internet continues to develop as an open
platform; one that serves the economic, social, and educational needs of
individuals throughout the world. Major objectives of ISOC are as under:-
1) Build greater awareness of the Internet Society and its mission by
significantly enhancing its global outreach programmes and campaigns.
2) Advance the health of the Internet by making open standards,
development, and deployment more tangible to business and technical
communities.
3) Extend the Next Generation Leaders Programme to build a cadre of
individuals who are knowledgeable about the issues at the intersection of
technology and policy.
4) Develop additional revenue sources in support of the Internet Society's
expanding suite of programmes and the standards-development efforts of the
IETF and other organizations.
5) Strengthen the Internet Society's Chapter and Member activities so they
are maximally effective in realizing the organization's mission and goals.
6) Enhance network confidence by actively promoting and supporting
developments that engender user trust in networked environments.
Internet Society has its chapters in major cities/regions of most of the
developed and developing countries of the world. Although there have been
some isolated global members of ISOC in Pakistan but we could not
estabalish any functional and active chapter(s) in Pakistan. Recently
ISOC team and some active ICT professionals have gone through an exercise
which has resulted in giving us an opportunity to form ISOC chapters in
Pakistan. While simultaneous efforts are being made to form Chapters in
Lahore & karachi, ICT professionals living in Rawalpindi& Islamabad ( ICT
professionals from Peshawar and AJK may also attend if they want to get
themself educated on the Chapter Formation process for formation of
Peshawar ISOC Chapter and AJK ISOC Chapter ) are requested
to attend ISOC Islamabad chapter formation meeting. Details of Meeting are

This is an important event for promotion of Internet in this region,

in the region to form a real representative "ISOC Islamabad Chapter".
