[pakgrid] Re: [Isoc-in-pk] A very happy Censorship and Block to 50 million URLs - National URL Filtering and Blocking System

Well, do you have any base for this speculation that internet traffic is staying local in Pakistan?
It is not even 10% of our total internet traffic transiting sub sea cables.

What local traffic we are producing and consuming locally? Please suggest.

Secondly, there is a reason why they are THE Big Brothers. Local traffic or transit traffic it doesn't make any difference.

The front story was very nice; a local Pakistani doctor is helping his poor countrymen live a better life. Here again a local face is being sought to basically do the dirty work of CIA/NSA etc.
> The real problem, as I speculate, is that due to increase in local net traffic a lot of packets don't go out of Pakistan for NSA to capture and track. Furthermore a lot of content, not particularly friendly to our ruling elite and their overseas masters is being produced and consumed here. The type of content which can cause ordinary people to ask questions about the way they are being exploited by the ruling elites. So in order to relieve the work load of the overseas masters such system will be deployed here. And in order to soothe the nerves of some potential local nationalistic folks the project is being given a desi face. The fact of the matter is that NSA already has such boxes deployed in USA and they capture/scan every packet. That system will be put in place here with a local touch. The public will be told that this is being done to protect them and their children from harm and that they should be proud of the fact that it is designed & developed by our own people. And we all know how worried and concerned our ruling elite is about our welfare. This is my take on it, what do you think?
