Re: [pakgrid] Pakistan Made PAC PAD

I came accross below feedback on PAC PAD at some other email group.
The reviewer is an Electrical Engineer from PNEC and MBA from LUMS.

Its not the perfect product, but for the price range that it is
coming, i'm pretty sure that even the best of the techie companies
wont be able to compete when it comes to value for money. the
shortcomings are kinda obvious, the camera resolution leaves something
to be desired and dont expect it to match up to an ipad when it comes
to repsonsiveness. it has one front camera, which is rpetty low
resolution but i guess its real test will be with video chatting that
i havent had a chance to experience so far. the website says that
battery life is about 5 hrs of video time but low battery life can be
expected from a screen this big. however, there are some really bright
spots here as well. the screen resolution, though not the best, is
pretty ok. its a little bulky but considering its screen and
brightness, its nothing that prevents anyone from using it. the apps
as always are what will make or break this thing and with its
gingerbread android version, there really is no lack of apps.

i have so far used it exclusively as a movie viewer, internet browser
and a book reader. for all those purposes of mine i've found it very
suitable and have not felt as if anything was lacking. when it came to
fruit ninja and other games, the speed of the processor occasionally
slowed down the gaming experience. but for Rs. 17,000 i'm very happy
with it and for a person like me whose evenings are spent almost
exclusively browsing the web, doing email or watching movies etc, i'm
very satisfied. i never could read books on my desire, but with this
i've found ePUB books and reading a genuinely fun pass time all over
again.

all in all, with the amazing value for money this gives, i would
recommend it a buy and am pretty sure it'll beat anything that the
samsungs of the world will throw at it in this price range.

comes with a one year warranty and am not sure but have been told that
a chinese company partnered up with PAC and came up with this and so
far the technology doesnt seem to be lacking.
