[pakgrid] Research Scientist in Bioinformatics‏

Title: Research Scientist in Bioinformatics
A postdoctoral position is available in a planned Tau Consortium project, supervised by Prof. Kenneth Kosik and Prof. Xifeng Yan at UCSB. The successful candidate will participate in a multi-institutional consortium comprised of three core research institutions: UCLA, UCSB, and UCSF directed toward solving human neurodegeneration. The project will involve building linkages among "omics" data sets, e.g., building algorithms that will link genomic variants with changes in the transcriptome or link the mRNA and miRNA transcriptomes. The consortium houses large human data sets and has extensive sequencing capacity.

The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with the investigators in neuroscience, bioinformatics, computer science, and access integrated datasets from multiple sources. The qualified candidates should be highly motivated in research and have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computational biology, molecular biology, or related field upon the job start date. The successful candidate should have some experience in analyzing genomic data and proved skills in at least one programming language. Good understanding of molecular biology and familiarity with biostatistics are desirable. To apply, please send resume to
