The "Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia" (IIT) is a private law Foundation, created with the special Government Law no. 269 of September 30th 2003, with the objective of promoting Italy' s technological development and higher education in science and technology. Research at IIT is carried out in highly innovative scientific fields by about 1000 researchers from 38 different countries, with state-of-the-art technologies.
The Department of Neuroscience and Brain Technologies is located in the Central Research Laboratories in Genoa, and host groups with strong multidisciplinary expertise and provides state-of-the-art laboratory facilities.

One Postdoctoral position is available, initially for two years, starting from January 2013 to investigate the role of Post-transcriptional control of "Circadian Timing" in mammalian brain. In particular the project will investigate the role played by microRNAs (a novel class of small non coding RNAs with regulatory functions) on Clock/Clock-related gene expression and the relevance of such control for neurogenesis and neuronal network dynamics.

Ideal candidate must hold a PhD in neuroscience, biology, or a related discipline and be highly motivated and creative individuals who want to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary research environment.

Candidates should have strong hands-on expertise in: Biochemistry; Primary cell cultures preparation; handling/manipulation of small laboratory animal models; Molecular biology (e.g., mRNA/microRNA profiling and data analysis) and imaging. Prior experience in neuroscience is highly recommended. A good English skill is an absolute requisite.

Successful applicants should also be willing to learn a variety of complementary techniques ranging from the transgene expression via genetic or acute manipulations (e.g., virus injection or in utero electroporation), to genome-wide profiling and biochemistry.

To apply send CV, publication list, research interest statement, and names of 2-3 referees to Dr D. De Pietri Tonelli ( davide.depietri@iit.it ). Applications will be considered until the position is filled.

In order to comply with the Italian law (art. 23 of Privacy Law of the Italian Legislative Decree n. 196/03), we have to kindly ask the candidate to give his/her consent to allow IIT to process his/her personal data.
