Thank you Ali Khuwaja for elaborating my point.

Luckily, I had a discussion just yesterday with my friend who has done his Bachelors and Masters in Computing from UK. He has also worked as a teaching assistant in the same university. I was very much impressed by their education model of self based learning utilized in UK. The student is just given some basic concepts by the faculty. The faculty prepares situation based assignments of how the specific topic applies to society and businesses in industry for example of "equation of circle". First it is done by a team of faculty a semester before in which the tasks are decided and done. The team researches by studying the annual company reports, interviewing the companies for a specific topic, etc. Then after finalizing their case studies, they give the students to do similar assignment and grade them accordingly. Such assignments carry 70% weightage where as 30% weightage is given to the exams. We can also incorporate such methodologies should and can be used in our education models to shift the focus of students from grades towards practical learning. This will not only enhance the experience of the teachers but will also give an exposure to them about various industries when they work on different projects every semester.

Currently, I am teachig AutoCAD, any idea how to incorporate the above mentioned methodology? How do I make it more self based learning style? Please share your thoughts.
