The HHMI International Student Research Fellowships are designed to facilitate the research training of outstanding international predoctoral students (who are ineligible for fellowship or training grant support through federal agencies) in the biomedical and related sciences, including physical and mathematical sciences.

MUIS Merit Partial Scholarships are country-specific and will be awarded progressively through the year to future applicants to Macquarie University. The MUIS is highly competitive and awarded based on academic merit.

The MUIS Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships do NOT provide financial support in the form of a living allowance, nor does it provide for the cost of visa application, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), airfares, accommodation, conferences or other costs associated with study. This scholarship is not available to students studying at Macquarie City Campus or the Sydney Institute of Business & Technology (SIBT).

New Zealand-born Zena Daysh was the founder and Chair of the Commonwealth Human Ecology Council (CHEC). It was in recognition of this fine work and many other accomplishments that the University of Waikato conferred an honorary doctorate on Zena Daysh, in London, in 2009. Dr Daysh was a long-timeadvocate for sustainability; the term she used was human ecology. When Dr Zena Daysh passed away in 2011, a generous bequest was made from her estate to fund this Fellowship in sustainability research.
