Dear Colleagues,
Can we do the followings
1) Using Artificial Intelligence to Create a Low Cost Self-driving Car
2) Design and Synthesis of Hydrogenated TiO2-Polyaniline Nano rods for
Flexible High-Performance Super capacitors
3) Cool Core Bias in Sunyaev-Zel'dovich Galaxy Cluster Surveys
Of course, we can do it and our kids at Schools and colleges can do it, too
if they are properly mentored and trained. The above mentioned three
projects were presented by three high school students at Intel International
Science and Engineering fair 2013 and won First, 2nd and 3rd price,
respectively.
These kids are not very much different from any other kid in Pakistan. The
only difference is that they were properly selected, trained, mentored and
prepared to compete in international scientific fairs.
We all have the capabilities, potential and expertise to create such minds,
identify such talent, and mentor and train them for cutting edge scientific
research. We do not need whole lot of resources to get the job done. We just
need to identify our current resources and use them to build our young
scientific community. It is just a matter of your belief and confidence that
you can do it and you need to give it a try. If we will not step up to help
our coming generation then I can guarantee you that no one will take our
job. It is our responsibility and only we can bring a positive change.
It's a last reminder and application dead line is approaching fast. If you
or any of your colleague is interested in mentoring and training high school
students this summer in your lab then please visit www.pscb.org.pk and fill
out the application form before the dead line of June 7, 2013.
This will be a great opportunity for those who love to work with kids and
want to shape up their academic future.
This opportunity will provide you a key to unlock the minds of young
students and expose them to the state of the art research activities
happening in your labs.
This project will also give you a chance to identify bright future
scientists who will lead the scientific community in coming days carrying
your name with them.
Last but not least you are given a platform to pay back to your community
and build the future of young scientific community in Pakistan.
What minimum you can do is to spread the words among your colleagues and
high school students.
Thank you and looking forward to hear from all of you.
