Don -

So far it is working fine. I keep my Hughes modem ( HN7000S ) online at
all times even tho' I don't use it 'all the time'. I did have a problem,
but that was because from the last time I logged on with the Hughes modem
my IP address and transponder changed. I did check my speed on 5/17 so
it has been changed since then. Just had to make changes to my router in
order to get online.

What surprises me is there wasn't a 'reboot' in the log since we got home
on 5/12. Every other time I've had changes ( IP address
and/or transponder ) there has been a POR ( power on reset ) in the log
with notification of parameters change.

I'll try to log in every day or so to make sure it is still working ... but
the MB count is decrementing.

Hi all

I have a 7000S modem & a tripod system ... is the hnFAPAlert code something I need to be concerned about?

I know what FAP is, I FAP myself on occasion and I know how to redeem a token to get back online. I have no idea whether I need to do something about what is being discussed here. I am not a tech savvy person so I don't want to go messin' with something that could cause me problems. ;-)

Thanks,

Sally

Don,
Version 1.1.75 seems to work alright (HN7000S). The green indicator
shows the MB left. Hovering over it says "Not connected", (Windows 7
Ultimate 64 bit).
The previous version 1.1.63 hovering says "Remaining MB: xxx"
(Windows 7 Professional 32 bit) on the same network.

On both I have the "Configure hnFAP-Alert" set to it's defaults, I
don't use the Trigger Points or Break Connection. Left clicking both
versions shows the cyan full screen "Remaining MB: xxx".

Thanks. Sounds like there might be a bug to fix after all!

Sally, hnFAPAlert is a free program that provides an icon in the tray that contuously shows your MB left. It can be set to shut off the connection ahead of FAP if you wish. More, including download link, at http://www.datastormusers.com/hnFAPAlert.cfm

For what it is worth, last week I went through a lot of gyrations trying
to figure out why my Fap Alert was greyed out ("connecting") but never
connected. Don gave me some ideas, not of which really solved the
problem UNTIL I deleted Zone Alarm! I have used Zone Alarm for YEARS,
but now it seem that possibly their new updates have affected the FapAlert.

I totally uninstalled Zone Alarm, and the problem went away.
Malwarebytes is my new "watchdog"; and does not seem to affect anything
negatively.

Win XP Pro 32bit (yes I stuck with Win2000 until I had to got to Win
XP..so here I am again...

That got it, hovering works as expected. v1.1.76 now works the same
(for the HN7000S) as v1.1.63.

Thanks for keeping up with this.

Best

When our grandson moved in, I found a monitor that would work on his Mac. I'm not 100% sure where or what the name was, but it may be this one:
<http://sourceforge.net/projects/hnfapmon/>

That one is Windows-only as well. It was written long before Hughes provided real-time FAP information in the modem, so it works by monitoring actual traffic on the computer. The problem with that is that it never exactly agrees with what Hughes sees, so it is an approximation rather than exact.

Thanks, Duane ... has anyone else on a Mac used this?

Alex,

If you get any answers will you share? My MotoSat is down on the roof. This after I sent it to MotoSat in Utah to have repairs done costing $1,300. Still not working correctly. I went to a Verizon 4G mifi. Disconnected Hughes after I tried a new controller D3 and a new modem. I tried Don B software too but it could not find the antenna for a signal. I was on SatMX5 and I understand that is no more. I hate not being able to use it. Very frustrating.
