Finally able to get some info....

checked all the cables, seemed good to me...

Lat & Lon... it does not match "perfectly" here is what i have...

The Modem has a lat & Lon of 110.10/35.15, my actual is 116.54/32.50.... "I" would think that is close enough, but I dont know much as i thought the dish "searched"; for the satellite and once it got a "ping" it zeroed in and like magic your online...

also I have to manually enter the Mag compass heading as my compass is off also, but this has not been an issue till i got where i am at now, So Cal, San Diego area.

I am on 91W, have a F1/D2/HN7000S...

So what next? how do i manually enter the right lat/lon or is it close enough?

Alex

Those two locations are way too far apart. The modem thinks you are north
of Holbrook, Arizona, off I-40. Your actual is south of Tecate in Baja
California, Mexico. 15 miles is too far, 500 is way, way to far. You need
to use http://www.datastormusers.com/dsadmin.cfm, if you are running
Windows, to fix it.

The way it is *supposed* to work: The D2 uses GPS to determine its location. The D2 passes that location to the modem.

Frequently, particularly with old controllers, this is not happening. When it doesn't happen, you can't range, simple as that.

Bill recommended my DSAdmin for this, but it isn't the right program. If you can't get the D2 to pass the location (you can always hit search to peak up, since it is right when you hit search that the location is passed) then you need to do the same thing tripod users do. The program for that is DSSatTool.
