I'm not sure Bill reads here anymore. He will be at that rally, but he has indicated that he does not do anything but Winegard anymore.

One thing to check is to see that the Lat/Lon in the modem is actually what you think it is. Configuration/Configuration Params shows where the modem "thinks" it is located.

We have had some spamming issues from the 75.127 block in the past, so it is one of many on the ban list. I've opened it up for now.

I'm trying to get my system up and running for this summer road trips in the
RV... and I'm stuck and spinning my wheels. I'm on D16 990 and four days ago
I could not get above 40 SS using my legacy working equipment of past years.
Duane Schwab was kind enought to give me a lot of parts so I could do some
swapping. The first problem I solved was using one of his arms which
transmitter and LNB with my dish I got a SS of 60 AND I actually got on line
with Hughes and sent a couple E-mails using legacy cables and my normal
HN7000s from past years. Feeling good but concerned about the low SS I let
it rest a day and went after it again today. I set the dish back up again
using new cables just to be sure they were not part of the low SS problem.
The cables are RG6 quad shield copper center conductor low loss... the same
as I have been using for 7 years... just new. I could still only get 60 SS
on Dougs arm. Now the transmit light would come on for about a minute then
ficker a little for another minute then not come on at all. Forced ranging
failed as well.
I put my original arm back on and the damned thing came in at 73 SS. (I hate
it when marginal problems lie this occur!!) BUT, the transmit light still
would not come on as well. I get the transmit code 21 and the OCP red flags
on both arms. I have restarted the modem and tried to nail the 1110
transponder with no succes either.
I tried my three power supplies that worked well last years and two that
Doug left with me. I am very sure it is not a power supply problem. I have
used my regular HN7000s used for the past five years plus a spare I had that
worked last year.
Skew setting is per the DSat tool... in my location (DFW) +3.4. I varied it
a few degrees with no favorable results on getting Forced ranging to work OR
the ellusive transmit light to stay on.
The only hardware I have not swapped is the fiberglass dish. I can/will do
this but I'm skeptical that is the problem.
If anyone has any realistic ideas or suggestions I would appreciate
feedback. I've not had this difficult of a problem the last five or six
years. I have to be missing something and am baffled as to how it came up
properly a couple days ago and then the transmit light problem started.

it rest a day and went after it again today.

RV... and I'm stuck and spinning my wheels. I'm on D16 990 and four days ago

Your SS of 73 is fine. Your SS of 60 is fine. Both indicate no problems with pointing or with the dish, because you are receiving fine and only have a transmit problem
The TX21 would indicate that a Cross-Pol test actually ran, but failed. The only realistic way out of that is to run cross-pols until you pass an automatic one.
I would start by running automatics 2 or 3 times to see what happens. If none of them pass, then use manual to see if you can adjust skew to get a pass.
With the terrible state of the servers on the Hughes end you may have trouble getting any test to actually run, let alone pass. There is another thing you can try in that case. Explanation:
There are actually 3 cross-pol tests. Besides the manual and automatic there is also one that actually is automatic, meaning it runs on its own. It will run whenever the modem detects that it has been moved. It has a lower passing grade than the others, and is also on a more reliable (but not completely reliable) server.
Now, how do you get that automatic to run? Start by putting in phony lat/long that puts you on the completely opposite side of the country. Try to run ACP, which will certainly fail. Now tell the modem your correct location, and simply wait for a few minutes. Power-cycle if necessary.

Oops! Stupid security seems to think the cfg file is scary, so the GoDaddy
virtual server won't let it download.
To get around this, I have renamed the file as *.txt.
So, just right-click the filename "sbcNAD061313.txt" and select "save link

Don, just as soon as I get the most recent cfg file loaded from Barb I will
jump into this.
One question I have.... one modem has already made it through and worked
once the other day but the xmt light problem surfaced on it. On the second
spare modem that has not had the SAN changed at Hughes so its in limbo I
think. In both cases the system light never comes on.
Can the Hughes system go through server set up steps without the system
light being on?

Don, the first two didn't work and I went to your third method...all this
after updating the cfg file. Again, I am on D16 990.
The method I followed was using the DSat Installer tool where I selected a
lat-long up in Massachusetts...I'm in Dallas. I ran ACP but in it never
registered a failure... it just kept pumping away. I let it go for a half
and it was still trying to process. Was my method valid?
I then reused DSat to get me back to my actual and present location here in
the Dallas area and DSat updated and rebooted the modem. It still has not
transmit light.
Am I correct that to proceed with syncing up with the Hughes servers the
transmit light must be on? Am I correct the syncing up cannot proceed
without some kind of Cross Pol results that pass certain parameters?

=======
There are actually 3 cross-pol tests. Besides the manual and automatic there
is also one that actually is automatic, meaning it runs on its own. It will
run whenever the modem detects
that it has been moved. It has a lower passing grade than the others, and is
also on a more reliable (but not completely reliable) server.
Now, how do you get that automatic to run? Start by putting in phony
lat/long that puts you on the completely opposite side of the country. Try
to run ACP, which will certainly fail. Now tell the modem your correct
location, and simply wait for a few minutes. Power-cycle if necessary.
after updating the cfg file. Again, I am on D16 990.
The method I followed was using the DSat Installer tool where I selected a
lat-long up in Massachusetts.

Don et al,..... Real Time Comms had me do some things about five days ago
when they were helping me. Is it possible that during that process they
could have made settings with Hughes that are causing the transmit led not
to syc up with their network?
Since the xmt led won't stay lit I'm still lost as to whether my hardware is
the issue or the Hughes server might be delaying or blocking things.
Thoughts?
