Good News!  Increased Basic Service plan allowance

Posted by: "Larry Hamm" Patlar@hughes.net   ldhamm

Wed Oct 19, 2011 2:23 pm (PDT)

Today my hnFAPMon reports a "full bucket" as 250MB, instead of the usual
200MB. I thought it must be a glitch, but MyHughesnet reports that,
indeed, we now have 250MB to play with, a 25% increase. It also
indicates the price (for new customers) is $10 less, at $49 and change.
I wonder if I could talk the customer retention person into giving ME
that rate? Hmmm...

You are not alone. I use an F1 Dish with Hughes. My "bucket used to be
375, today I checked it and it was 425!! Actually not much help. Tough
to view many videos or download a big file.

By most accounts, the next improvement will be "Rollover MB" that will let you accumulate several days worth if you aren't using your full allotment.

My Pro Plus account, usually 425MB is now 475Mb as of today. This,
the burst speed
downloads, up-to-date FAP status and five free hours in the
evening...hughes.net is
going the extra mile towards customer satisfaction. I'm quite happy
with the service.

I do not know why you would be happy, I sure am not. I get terrible
upload and downloads on my F1 Dish. 2-7 AM? Well, I am lucky to be
awake then and if it is important, I have to set my alarm clock to get
work done. I went for 375 to 425. Whoopee!! If I wasn't mobile I'd be
back on DSL.

If I had the money, I'd drop Hughes in a heartbeat.

Teddy,

If we weren't mobile, we'd all be on DSL, or whatever the current high
throughput service is called. But we are mobile, and Hughes is nearly
all there is for mobile internet anywhere at a reasonable price. We
understand what the limitations are, we live with them, and are happy to
have the improvements. It is what it is.

If I had the money, I'd buy Hughes and be its only customer. But I have
to be realistic, and make the most of it. I hope you can find some way
to come to terms with the situation. Perhaps cellular service might help
you out?

Thanks..forgive me for ranting. I am SO mobile that I am VERY often in
places with NO cell service. So Hughes is what I have...
