Hello everyone,
I've been with the group for sometime (2005) but usually do not comment.
Per the previous note, someone suggested 117W... I have run for a number of years on Horizon 127W. From deep in Florida, ( Orlando area ) up to Fairbanks,Alaska, and many point in between.
My currents system, a DW 7000S, is currently decommissioned but this past summer in MI, it locked onto a 75 signal level. I am not quite ready to give it away yet.

You're right ... the DW7000 still works fine and the HN7000S has no real
advantages over nit. However, you cannot commission one as a new account,
except with Motosat.
Something to be aware of is that SatMex5 is supposed to run out of fuel
midway through 2012 and it's unclear if the replacement will be in place in
time. One article says not til September of this year. There is the real
potential of losing service, at least temporarily.
Here are some links for more info on what is happening:
. 2013 is the expected end to the "mission" of SatMex5. Here's a
link:
.

.html
. Here's another one that says 15+ years, which would be the end of
2013 or later:
. http://www.satbeams.com/satellites? id=2206
. Here's one that talks about the problem they had with it in 2010
and that it will likely lead to a reduced lifetime, so that puts it closer
to now. But it also says they are working on getting financing for a
replacement:

. More about the failure:
.

er-satellite-propulsion- system-failure. html
. It sounds like July or August is when the fuel runs out, but
they've put down $2M towards a replacement:
.
http://www.spacenews.com/satellite_ telecom/100405- debt-ridden- satmex-puts- do
wn-new-satellite.html
. And, here's one that says the old Satmex5 is done in May 2011 (not
true) and that the replacement won't be active til September 2012:

The options are to do either a transponder change (to a different satellite)
or set up a whole new account. Since it will require going through
registration - installer, it's probably best for Mexico winter residents to
wait until they are back in the US and then get in touch with us, if you
need help. There can definitely be issues getting commissioned on a new
satellite, so you want to be where telephone support will be available.
Depending on where you are in Mexico, either 99 W/G16 or 113 W/SatMex6 will
work.
Take care,
Barb
