CoNNekT Lab (NUST) and Adcom Lab (LUMS)  are looking for a dynamic individual with a proven track-record to work on research, design and deployment of a complete networked communication system for their ICTRDF funded project, Safety Assurance in High Stress Environments on a collaborative effort of Dr. Saad Qaisar and Dr. Ijaz Naqvi.. We are soliciting applications from Electrical/Electronics engineers for the following position.

 

Primary Job Responsibility: Leading a team to design and develop robust sensing and communication devices / device enclosures suited for harsh environments in coordination with communication and inference teams. Testing, validation, testbed & field deployment and optimization of the designed solution for the target environments, from concept to fully functional prototype.

 

Required Skills / Qualifications:

 

·         Masters degree in Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics Engineering (highly preferred).

·         Hands on experience and sound working knowledge of Microcontrollers (8 bit/16-bit) anad board design.

·         Must be familiar with all peripherals like ADC's, DAC's, communication modes and internal architecture.

·         Hands on experience of working on Sensors and Actuators and their interfacing.

·         Fluent with programming languages, specifically related to firmware development

·         Knowledge of communication protocols (USB, I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485, Wifi, Zigbee e.t.c) and communication system design and architecture

 

PCB design experience:

Design experience with Schematic Capture, BOM file generation, placement,

layout and routing etc.

Good knowledge of PCB design

Experience with Rigid-Flex PCB design etc.

Experience of supervision for mechanical housing etc.

In depth knowledge of Electronic Circuit's design / development (PCB's manufacturing) / Testing and Evaluation.

 

Hardware building/testing experience:

Prototype building / assembly , testing, experience with lab equipments etc.

Experience with testing the prototype regarding the voltage levels, noise levels, etc.

Experience with testing the prototype which involves simulation / testing, register's settings etc.

 

 

Tools experience:

Knowledge of microcontrollers, microprocessors, programmers and architectures such as AD, TI and Arm.

PCB design tools: Design experience with tools like Mentor Graphics

DxDesigner, cadence, Orcad,P-Spice, Model-sim and other PCB design tools etc

FPGA tools: Design experience with tools like Quartus II, Nios-II, Aldec-HDL, Model Sim Altera and other leading EDA tools etc.

 

 

Personal Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Result-oriented and responsible

Experienced in spotting the design issues, know the questions to ask and how to

efficiently obtain relevant information.

Curious & questioning, details-oriented. As a result, know what information to seek.

Clarity of thought. Strong team working,  leadership and communication skills.

Effective at time management and prioritizing tasks to achieve deadlines, experience of

working on multiple projects simultaneously
