I'm admittedly getting a bit rusty at these things, but I always set the
transponder in the modem for the best signal strength for aiming, passing
cross-pol, etc.
Once automatic cross-pol has passed, Hughesnet does a download to the modem
and sets the correct transponder for the account.
After passing cross-pol, the only time you would have to go back and change
your parameters back to a previous assignment is if you were doing your
cross-pol on another satellite than the one you're assigned to.

I think that the test that was done (set another transponder) would indicate
the location is fine.
Now if it were me, I would ignore what Hughes support said and assume the
transponder might be gone/changed. It would help to know what it is in the
original question, because we might have been able to diagnose instantly,
but since it wasn't, what I would do is to run registration all of the way
through and see if it comes back on the same transponder.

He had big winds on the lake and had to watch the boat all last night. I just heard from him this am. He is currently on 89w, 1270. He did not recheck the transponder assignment after running installer. He will do that next. Anyone know if 89w, 1270 is working correctly?
