[pakgrid] Dosti Network

The Atlantic Council of the United States (ACUS) is accepting applications for a new initiative, the Dosti Network, which will connect young entrepreneurs from India, Pakistan, and the Diaspora communities to build cross-border relationships, explore opportunities for investment, and do other business activity. The Council is seeking young entrepreneurs at or near the executive level with an interest in cross-border engagement. Other young leaders with a demonstrated commitment to improving cross-border investment (including business leaders, elected officials, legislative staff, and journalists) may also be considered for membership.  The Dosti network will connect young entrepreneurs from India, Pakistan, and the Diaspora communities for a series of dialogues intended to create professional ties, explore cross border activities, and share ideas and best practices for creating better business ties between India and Pakistan. Dosti Network members will be invited to attend four in-person events, including:

·         Dosti Dialogue and Network Launch: London, UK, December 2012

·         Dosti Dialogue: United States (Silicon Valley, CA, New York, NY, or Washington, DC), March/April 2013

·         Dosti Dialogue: India and Pakistan (back to back – either Karachi/Mumbai or Lahore/New Delhi), August/September 2013

·         Dosti Conference: Dubai, United Arab Emirates or Bangkok, Thailand, November 2013

The three Dosti dialogues will last approximately 1.5 days (4 days for the India/Pakistan event) and may include roundtable dialogue, keynote addresses from leading figures, networking, and site visits. Where possible, the Council will work to plan these dialogues around larger existing events to maximize networking potential. The Dosti conference will reconvene participants from the dialogues, and feature panel discussions, keynote addresses, and other dynamic programming including the award of the Dosti Business Plan Competition and Thought Leadership Awards.  A possible television documentary may follow the teams as they plan for the competition in a semi-reality series.  Please note, Dosti members will be asked to pay for their own travel to attend events. The Council will be happy to cover the cost of accommodation and meals for participating members (for the first 20 members attending each dialogue and the first 40 members attending the conference). Limited travel stipends will be available on a need-basis.

Applications to join the network will be accepted on a continuous basis, with a priority deadline of November 5 for those who wish to attend the London Dosti dialogue in December 2012. The Council will, however, continue to accept applications on a rolling basis after this date. Final decisions and notifications will be made within one month from receipt of application (and within two weeks for those who apply by the priority deadline).  For more information on the Dosti Network, and to apply, you can visit http://www.acus.org/event/call-applications-2012-dosti-network
