Modem Problem.

We have an HN7000S modem and a tripod setup. The problem we're having has been ongoing, but is now getting worse. Everything will operate fine. Then the system will slow way down or stop altogether. The web pages will load very slowly or we'll get the ever dreaded Web Client Acceleration Error message. The second and fourth lights on the modem will go off and then come back on after several seconds. Sometimes the middle light will go off along with the other two. The Hughes System Control Center shows a red light along with either Tx3 or Tx5 messages along with a web acceleration failure.
If I disconnect & reconnect the cables and then run DsSatTool, the system will be up and running again for awhile. I'd been going through this procedure about once a week when we are sitting still, but now it's about 3-4 times a day. I suspect that we have a bad modem. Any advice would be appreciated.
We are in Quartzsite, so if it is the modem, anyone here selling the HN7000S modem? You can respond either here or at sheppard4 @ hughes.net

We have asked around and have not found a business here selling modems. The
good news is that it is likely not your modem but the bad news is that it
could well be your transmitter. I would start by cutting off the current
connections on all of your cables and start again with good fresh
connections if you have the necessary tools or find a dealer who can do this
for you.
Once you are up and running you can go to
http://192.168.0.1/cgi/execAdvC om.bin?Command= 450
<http://192.168.0.1/cgi/execAdvC >om.bin?Command= 450&PrintMsg= Ranging
&PrintMsg=Ranging and scan to the bottom of the page. Take a look at the
Target EsNo (usually 96) and the Final Received EsNo (should be 70+). If it
is only 30-40 then you either have a very badly pointed antenna or your TX
is likely going bad. There is a slim chance that the modem or the modem
power supply is the issue but the TX is the most common.

You might want to update the satellite transponder configuration file. You
can get the latest file on rovinginternet.com, on the Downloads page. It
will be called sbcNADMMDDYY.cfg, where MMDDYY represents the date the file
was created.
For instructions on how to update the config file, please see my online user
guide for HughesNet, chapter 3. Here is a link to the user guide:
http://www.mobileinternetsatellite. com/HughesNetUse rGuide/MIS_ Index.html
Then go through Registration - Installer. How to do this is documented in
the first half of chapter 2 of the user guide. Registration will download
the latest satellite parameters and any updates, to the modem. This
sometimes resolves this kind of problem. Passing cross-pol can sometimes be
difficult, but you need to go all the way through registration.
Before you go through registration, check all cables and maybe swap the
transmit and receive cables completely, removing the short cables at both
ends.
If the symptoms change, you have a problem in the cabling.
We have both transmitters and modems available, but we are leaving for one
week, tomorrow. I will be checking email, but won't be able to ship anything
until after the 30th.
