Assistant/Associate Professor - Computing Science

DUTIES:
The Department of Computing Science at Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a full-time tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor commencing July 1, 2013, or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate must have a PhD in computing science or an equivalent discipline by the commencement date of the appointment. Exemplary communication skills (written, oral and presentation) in English are essential. The successful applicant will be an energetic team player who functions well in a collegial governance environment. Related industry experience would be a definite asset.
We are primarily seeking candidates with research expertise in one of the areas of mobile applications development, networks, security, or web development. Duties will include undergraduate teaching (and graduate teaching/supervision in the future), research, supervision of student researchers, and service-related activities. A commitment to excellence in teaching and a willingness to work on departmental/ university/professional committees is expected. Evidence of strong potential for developing and sustaining a program of externally funded research is required.
Candidates at the more senior ranks should have a strong record of teaching excellence, supervision of student research, participation in service activities, journal publications and research funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The department currently offers a number of courses in the following areas: networks, databases, software engineering, web-based systems, graphics/animation, and mobile application development. The ability to teach in several of these areas would be a definite asset.
