Re: [pakgrid] Digital Circuits book in URDU-contribution to a national cause

Dear all,

I think we are confusing two different issues here, namely the use of Urdu for national purposes (ease of access, official communications, etc.) and the use of Urdu for scientific purposes. The decline of Urdu for the first purpose is truly sad and every effort towards reviving Urdu in this role is commendable. For the second purpose, let us keep in mind that science is most scientific activity these days is collaborative in nature. Training Pakistani scientists and engineers in Urdu only will disadvantage them when working with people from other backgrounds.

Like it or not, English is the lingua franca of today, succeeding Latin, Arabic, French and German. Instead of wasting our time being bitter about it, we can just accept it and better invest our efforts towards developing science and technology regardless of the language. Germany has certainly adopted this approach.

Best,

Waqar
