I would add to the idea of strengthening the undergrad by suggesting that we have to concentrate on basic science subjects for instance linear algebra and calculus. I teach Artificial Intelligence to undergrad students. I have to skip the rigorous arguments in the content as the students go blank-faced as I use the terms like "Bays Theorem". or merely dot product (visualization ).
