Title: Context Aware Personal Cloud

Goal: The Personal Cloud can be defined as a new model facilitating the interaction between a user and its technological environment. This technological environment is characterized by several kind of socially typed activities (public/personal/professional/...) together with the fact that those activities are ran through a multi-device experience leveraging a cloud infrastructure. Each interaction is context sensitive in the sense that the execution of related services are tailored regarding available resource availability, execution cost, and expected Quality-of-Experience regarding interaction modalities. The Personal Cloud is a facilitator for the development of Any Time, Any Where, Any Device, Any Content services.
The main goal of this PhD research is to design a new kind of context builder for the Personal Cloud which could be viewed as an ubiquitous information system. The approach is to rely on a join analysis of data streams and persistent data to characterize the context of a service for execution. Main challenges related to this research are:
- Deep understanding of the semantics related to queries and operations on data.
- Investigate semantic equivalence between contexts to fit appropriate quality requirements.
- Autonomic deployment and redeployment of complex queries and monitoring services.
- Dynamic and reactive optimization of the system to enhance the personal cloud support.
Background of applicant:
The project involves both computer science theory and its application to real-world applications. The applicant should be a good programer with a good knowledge of computer science theory. A master degree in the field of computer science (or closely related discipline) is mandatory.
