Re: [pakgrid] The next step in MOOCs

Assalam-o-alaikum

Education is now in two parts

Learning and Assessment

The price for learning is diminishing at an astonishing rate while the price of assessment is on the rise!

The universities are going to be charging for assessments i.e. endorsement of knowledge and the price is mostly for the brand. Another provision being the environment which acts as a catalyst for learning. That environment is fast transforming into social networks. So only Labs are the only thing not going online.

Professors all over the world usually use similar text books and follow similar pedagogy etc. for teaching and assessing a course but the outcomes are different, why?

I think that it is high time that we have a local but Highly recognized and unbiased certification authority for granting certifications (where possible)  in all disciplines of knowledge so as to minimize the costs of education to Pakistani Students as well as reduce the flow of foreign exchange from the country.

This is just great.  We need to strengthen our undergrade programs to increase number of our studenst who can get admitted to this program.

Dear all,
so finally, it is Georgia Tech which has taken the big step and made an MS degree through the MOOC paradigm. Georgia Tech MS (CS) for $7,000. That is just awesome.
