Network Simulator 2 (NS2) Workshop
Network Simulator 2 (Ns2) is an open-source event-driven simulator designed specifically for research in computer communication networks. This is the most widely used simulator used by engineers and researchers in academia and industry for simulation of wired and wireless networks. Network Simulator 2 (ns2) Training course is laboratory oriented, in which hands on training will be given. The course covers fundamentals of system modelling, understanding of ns-2, installation of ns-2, writing scripts, simulation and patching. Main focus is on students become capable enough to write their own simulation model test them and draw conclusions

· Basics of TCL Programming Language
· How to write code in OTCL programming language
· Running Simulations

· View simulation Animation using NAME
· Analysing NAM and TRACE Files
· Creating new Wired Simulation Model (Case Study I)
· Creating new Wireless Simulation Model (Case Study II)
· Extracting and analysing TRACE Files
· Apply AWK, PERL,GREP,EGREP for Simulation Data Analysis
· Plot graphs with gnuplot of extracted data Draw Conclusions/Results
Labs (Hands on work)
- Lab work is based on Linux desktop (enough hands on will provided if you are not familiar with Linux)
- Simulation using ns-2 simulator
- Perl/awk for trace files analysis
- gnuplot for graph plotting
- Extensive laboratory training
