[pakgrid] PostDoc Position at Aalborg University‏

 

At the Center for Data-Intensive Systems (Daisy), Aalborg University, Denmark, a post doc position in computer science is available.

The research is within the general topics of continuous queries on uncertain moving objects, cleansing of positioning data, and mining positioning data.
The research also takes into account complex indoor/outdoor topologies in spaces like airports, as well as uncertainty inherent in positioning data.
The post doc position is funded by the BagTrack project which is focused on the management of airport baggage tracking data obtained by RFID technologies.
The overall objective of this project is to improve the baggage handling quality in the global aviation industry with novel data management technologies.

Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in computer science, including an excellent scientific background and publication record within databases and/or data mining.
Experience with spatial/spatio-temporal data management and/or RFID data is an advantage.

The position is initially available for 12 months, from October 1, 2011, or as soon as possible thereafter, with the possibility of extension after mutual agreement.

The database research faculty in Daisy primarily conduct research in the areas of spatial, temporal and spatio-temporal databases, mobile services, and data warehousing/business intelligence.
According to a recent international evaluation, the research performance places Daisy among the world leaders in its core areas.

The department offers office and computing facilities, secretarial support, and support for travel. The area features relatively low cost of living, clean air,
beautiful forests and beaches, and very good transportation infrastructure.
