This is the one response that made sense..

Not everyone is cut out to do a PhD ...
Not everyone is comfortable dealing with issues of profit, loss and organizational politics in industry (though politics and money are a factor in any job).

So pick you poison based on your strenghts and inclinations, and be the best at what you do !
