The Department of Computer Science Electrical Engineering, (http://sce.umkc.edu/our-school/csee-department.asp ) invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in computer science effective Fall 2012. We are housed in the School of Computing and Engineering (http://sce.umkc.edu/default.asp ) and located near the cultural heart of Kansas City. We seek candidates with a solid record of research, a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, leadership abilities and expertise in the following areas: software systems and engineering, web technologies and semantic web, distributed computing, social computing, pervasive computing, cloud computing, mobile computing and related areas.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent and externally funded research program, strengthen our current research efforts, and assume teaching responsibilities at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The successful candidate is expected to undertake collaborative and interdisciplinary research with faculty members in CSEE and other departments within the School of Computing and Engineering (SCE) as well as in other schools at UMKC. The successful candidate is expected to establish a multidisciplinary research team by securing extramural funding at the highest levels and publishing scholarly work in reputable journals.
We offer degrees at all levels, including the PhD degree. We have 20 tenured/tenure track faculty members with nine active NSF grants. Kansas City has 1.6 million people and is home to a large base of engineering and life sciences institutions, offering collaborative opportunities.

An earned doctorate in computer science is required. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Evaluation of applicants will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled.
