POSITION IN SOFTWARE ENGINEERING (CYBER SECURITY)

Applications are invited for a probationary (tenure-track) appointment in the area of
software engineering.Candidates with expertise in cyber security and related areas are of
particular interest. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor in the
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering effective July 1, 2012, or as soon as
possible thereafter.
The Department is seeking an energetic and dynamic candidate who will be able to contribute
to and complement the Department's teaching activities in the broad area of software
engineering as well as contribute to the research activities in the emerging areas of cyber
security. The Department has several projects currently underway that deal with improving
maintainability of software systems, software evolution, component-based software
engineering, large-scale project management, software product lines, software life cycle
models and human factors in software engineering.
Applicants for this position must have a Ph.D. degree in Software Engineering, or a closely
related discipline with an outstanding record of research and publication. Candidates with e
xperience in the design, implementation and maintenance of cyber security systems are
preferred and relevant industrial experience would be an asset. The successful candidate
will be expected to maintain an ongoing vigorous research program, collaborate with existing
faculty, attract external research funding and supervise graduate students in the Software
Engineering program. The appointee will be expected to participate in the normal
administrative, educational and professional activities of the Department, Faculty and
University. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate
courses in the core areas of software engineering. Commitment to, or eligibility for
registration as a Professional Engineer in Ontario is required for this appointment.
