Respected all,

SEMINAR on "Waveform Processing Techniques for Software Defined Radio"

29 December, 2011 at 1200 hours, SEECS Seminar Hall

A software-defined radio (SDR) system is radio communication system which can tune to any frequency band and receive any modulation across a large frequency spectrum by means of programmable hardware which is controlled by software. Software radios have significant utility for the cell phone operators and military organizations. Both of them must serve a wide variety of changing radio protocols in real time. The bottleneck in the SDR is the baseband processing, so the efficient waveform processing techniques can increase the bandwidth, in turn we can increase the total number of wireless standards supported by our system.

Speaker: Dr. Jamil Ahmad is a Director at Radiosoft Ltd (UK). He has worked as a Senior Wireless Systems Architect at Catena Radio Design (Eindhoven, Netherlands) for 5 years.  He has, also, served at Nortel Networks Europe (UK) as Voice Processing DSP Group Leader for 3 years. He has, also, provided consultancy at Philips Digital Research Labs (Leuven-Belgium) for 1 year. Moreover, he has worked for various other renowned organizations for 10 years. His main areas of expertise are OFDM Algorithm Development, Modelling and Simulation of Wireless Communication Systems, Digital Demodulation and Forward Error Correction (FEC) and Embedded DSP Software Defined Radio.
