Subject: Post-Doc positions at Uppsala University: Programming
       of wireless sensor networks

Uppsala University, Sweden, declares the following positions to be open
for application:

Up to two (2) post-doc positions in Computer Science or Computer Systems

at the Department of Information Technology, in the ProFuN research
project.

The project is examining techniques to develop a platform suitable for
programming future wireless sensor networks and tools for algorithms for
supporting such a platform and its demonstrator applications.** ProFuN's
goal is to provide a programming environment where networks of wireless
sensors can be programmed as an ensemble rather than individually.
ProFuN adopts a holistic approach to sensor network programming and aims
to demonstrate that sensor networks can be programmed and employed
efficiently taking into account the severe constraints that such devices
typically have (e.g., being devices with very limited power, frequently
failing sensors, mobility, and harsh security threats). Research
directions of ProFuN span over programming language support for sensor
network programming, algorithms for verification and testing of WSNs,
formal modelling of WSNs, use of constraint programming techniques for
efficient deployment and use of WSNs, middleware for distributed systems
of small nodes, execution environments and operating systems for
wireless sensor nodes, etc. ProFuN welcomes applications from candidates
who want to conduct research spanning one or more of these directions.**

A Post-Doctoral position requires a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science,
Computer Engineering, or equivalent. The degree should typically have
been obtained not more than three years ago. (If there are special
reasons, e.g. maturity leave, a PhD degree can have been obtained
earlier.) There is no teaching obligation in the positions although we
encourage PostDocs to participate in education activities.
