Research Assistant Position: Database Setup/Management

*Project Description*

We are working on a project on public procurement practices in Punjab for
which we will be collecting data from public bodies on their purchases.
Purchases of items included in our study will have to be registered in our
database and a questionnaire on the item procured must be completed before
payment is authorised. These questionnaires will be completed by the
purchasing officers of the public bodies on android-based systems and the
questionnaires are built in JotForm (see http://www.jotform.com/). In order
to achieve this, we need to set up a database to store all the
questionnaire responses and secure it so that only authorised users can
access the questionnaires intended for them and so that only the research
team can access the data store.

*Job Description*

The job is to set up a database to hold survey responses and a website
frontend for users to interface with. We will be building off JotForm. The
Job is project based – the successful applicant will not have to report to
the office. Strict adherence to timelines and deliverables will be
required. This is an excellent part-time opportunity for an employed or
self-employed experienced professional.

The job is to

· set up a database for us to store the data users will be
generating in JotForm

· set up usernames and passwords and a web portal for users to
access the JotForm forms from.

· set up a 'user dashboard' where users have access to previously
filled forms and options to fill in new ones

· create a 'flexible' database & form – to understand this, imagine
that we need to compare purchases of pens, medical laboratory equipment, or
PCs – there are many different attributes that could determine prices, and
we want to 'crowd-source' these attributes, i.e. let users add any number
of relevant attributes – so that we can compare price efficiency across the
purchase of different types / brands / attributes of the same good.

· Store these 'crowd-sourced' attributes in a way that allows them
to be 'curated' by admin/backend users for uniformity and comparability.

*Requirements: Essential*

· Fluent with PHP 5.3 or later (5.2 might work too)

· Experience working with website authentication

· Knowledge of MySQL 5 or higher

· Knowledge of Ajax (Asynchronous Java Script and XML)

· Experience with Windows Server

· Experience writing web apps or websites in HTML

*Requirements: Preferred*

· Experience with Linux/UNIX servers

· Experience working with large databases accessed by many users.

· Experience writing frontends for Android in XHTML basic.

· Experience writing websites in HTML to work on android platform

This position would be ideal for a candidate seeking experience in
professional database management and set-up. The successful candidate will
be able to have a large degree of freedom in the design of the database,
and so the work will be a creative as well, allowing the person to apply a
wide range of skills. The person will be required to work part time on
maintenance of database.

The position is available immediately and the work is to be concluded ASAP.

Computer Engineering) Preferably CISSP, CISA/CISM certified
