For locking the cells you need to do few things for that..
1. if u are using excel 2007 then select all the cells then in format click
lock cells.. by default all the cells are locked
2. then select the particular cells you want to lock then in format click
lock cells.. then press protect sheet in it select locked cells and
unlocked cells, enter the password press enter... here you go...
