Hi,

I am working for a GSM operator and we are about to begin massive roll outs
of new 2G/3G/LTE sites. This is further complicated with site sharing and
multi-vendor involvement during various phases of the deployment. I am
currently looking for a solution, preferably a centralized database that
would be able to track all of this and any other changes per site along
with recording dates of various milestones and not be too complicated at
the same time. I am familiar with site-handler when I was working with
Ericsson, but I am not sure if it is an off-the-shelf software, I am trying
to find something on the net but would appreciate any suggestions from the
experienced professionals on the network.

Hi All,
Can somebody please let me know what is the right way to apply erlangB formula on GSM channels...where a certain HR factor is also incorporated.
Can we apply it to decimal values(number of channels) or is there any compulsion to apply it for whole numbers only?

Dear ,
                 Erlanb B formula can easily be used to approximate the number of channels to cover certain ammount of traffic for any GSM system let say if you have defined your blocking probability 2 percent it means Bc =0.02  and you want to  determine number of physical channels and you have evaluated the expected offered traffic will be let say 25 E and then we can easily determint traffic channel from Erlang B chart or formula. after determinig the traffic channels we can transform into frequency channels of GSM using specific of GSM.
hope it is related to your querry if you can further elobrate the term "HR factor " I can also specify it further according to your Requirement.

Thanks for the prompt reply.I had the idea of erlanB calculations.The only thing that i wanted to know was; to determine Offered traffic, "if there is any compulsion to use the 'whole number' in number of channels variable"...
HR Factor is Half Rate factor which differs from Operator to Operator however 50% HR factor is normally taken.that is [50% HR Factor] =[Total Number of physical TCH Timeslots * 1.5].The resulting number of channels will be a decimal number mostly...and the erlangB tables and online calculators do not cater for the decimal part.they round it off to whole numbers and then calculate the offered traffic which is not the exact value.I hope you have understood my query now.
