Post Doctoral position in similarity searching, Masaryk University, Czech Republic


Masaryk University, Faculty of Informatics, is seeking an outstanding candidate for
one Post Doctoral position in the field of Similarity Searching for Multi-modal Data Interpretation.
Research topics of interest include, but are not limited to, architectures and technologies
for high performance searching, execution platforms and architectures for multi-modal object findability,
security issues in similarity search outsourcing, load balancing and efficient infrastructure exploitation.

A successful candidate for the Post Doctoral position should hold a recent Ph.D. degree
(not before April 2008) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related area.
The candidate should have experience with research on advanced data management topics,
preferably similarity searching, including prototyping. We are seeking individuals who can bring
strong technical skills and enthusiasm to an area of research ripe for innovation and who will
be able to integrate well into a larger team. Though high-level publications are expected as
the primary output, a moderate teaching load is also obligatory.

The position, supervised by Prof. Pavel Zezula, zezula@fi.muni.cz, is open from September 2012.
The initial contract will be for one year with a possible extension up to three years.
The monthly salary will be 55 000 CZK (approximately 2 100 Euro).
A four-month research stay at a cooperating European university will also be covered by the program.
