| A research assistant position is open at CoNNekT Lab, NUST. The candidate would work under joint supervision of Dr. Saad Qaisar and Dr. Kamran Munir on development of a decision support system for health applications in collaboration with Kyunghee University, Korea. Position Title: Research Assistant School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS) National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) NUST Sector H-12 Islamabad - 44000 Pakistan.
Job description: The research assistant will work on a specific part of a funded research project of implementing a Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS). The main aim is to develop data fusion algorithms that would improve the outcomes of the CDSS by monitoring the physiological parameters and activity/posture of the neonate. In this regard, the neonate wearable device; developed as a part of this project, would require to send vital physiological parameters and activity information of the neonate to the cloud. The developed algorithms that will be running on the Cloud, will be required to support real-time decisions, so that the CDSS can process, analyze and make recommendations to the physicians and healthcare providers worldwide.
To be considered for this post, candidates must have the following: A masters degree in computer science or computer engineering. Applicants who are currently enrolled in Masters programs at NUST-SEECS and working on their course-work / completed are also eligible/encouraged to apply (against fulfilling requirements of their Masters thesis). · Strong knowledge of Decision Support Systems, Machine Learning, AI and Data Mining. · Excellent database design and development, Java and C++ software development skills in both Windows and Linux environment. · Practical knowledge of Cloud computing. · Ability to rapidly familiarize with large, complex software packages. · Excellent technical English written and oral communication skills. · Ability to function autonomously in a collaborative team. · Ability to work in a fast paced environment, with strong attention to detail, and excellent time management and reporting skills. · Familiarity with administrating and maintaining an x86/Linux cluster.
