[pakgrid] PhD Research position in Cloud information access, fully funded

PhD RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP WITHIN THE AREA OF CLOUD INFORMATION ACCESS
AT THE NORWEGIAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

One fully funded PhD research fellowship within the topic of cloud information
access is offered at the centre on Information Access
Disruptions (iAD) at the Department of Computer and Information Science at
the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Partially funded by the Research Council of Norway, iAD as a Centre for
Research-based Innovation (SFI), directed by Microsoft Development Center
Norway (MDCN) in collaboration with Accenture and leading universities.

The next generation of information access is going to be run in
the cloud. This creates new research challenges for search engines
and databases both with respect to updates and queries. There are
several research directions this position may make, considering economic
aspects of the cloud, both with respect to cost and resource usage in general,
or considering security in a setting where the contents of multiple users
are mixed, or by managing massive semi-structured data with dynamic
nature like in NoSQL databases. Potential candidates for this position are
expected to have a Master's degree in Computer and Information Science
with a strong background in either database management systems or
information retrieval. Additional knowledge of distributed systems is
also desired.

For more information, please contact Prof. Svein Erik Bratsberg (supervisor for
this position), sveinbra at idi.ntnu.no.
