POST-DOCTORAL POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
The Data-Intensive Applications and Systems laboratory at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL) has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher in the area of data management systems and new hardware platforms. We are looking for a highly qualified recent graduate with a PhD in Computer Science or relevant areas, who is interested in building systems for data management. Candidates must have a strong desire and proven ability to invent, build, and publish their work. A strong publication record and hands-on experience in system development are important.
The position is initially for 1-2 years but can be extended for up to 4 years based on performance. Salary and social benefits are extremely competitive. The position has not been assigned to a specific project; the candidate can work on one of the existing projects - data management systems for big science, in situ query processing, high performance transaction processing on new hardware, new storage technologies - and also establish his or her own projects and research directions, as well as apply and receive funding: Switzerland offers plenty of grant opportunities for promising young researchers.
The DIAS group currently has 10 PhD students and 2 postdoctoral researchers and offers a wide range of projects and excellent computing and experimental facilities. The group is also in close collaboration with leading research groups in the areas of data management, computer architecture, and dependable systems. Systems such as PAX, QPipe, Shore-MT and DORA are some of the results of the research conducted by DIAS. More information about the group and the ongoing research can be found at More information about the group and the ongoing research can be found at: http://dias.epfl.ch andhttp://dias.epfl.ch/join.
EPFL is one of the leading technical universities worldwide.
