[pakgrid] Assistant Professor - Spatiotemporal Databases

 

The George Mason University, Department of Geography and Geoinformation Science (http://ggs.gmu.edu/) located in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor-level beginning January 2013 with specialization in spatio-temporal databases. 

We seek candidates who will conduct research and teach both core and advanced courses in the design, development and application of spatio-temporal databases as applied to the areas of interest of the department, which include but are not limited to: geographic information, digital imagery, sensor networks, social media, and other related fields. 

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in computer science, engineering, geography, geoinformatics, or related fields; with a strong quantitative background. The successful candidate should have a strong commitment to research and teaching excellence, and is expected to develop an externally funded research program. Strong consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrated research and teaching experience in one or more of the above-mentioned areas. Excellent oral and written communication skills, a proven record of external research funding, as well as graduate student supervision are highly desirable qualifications. In addition, the ability to work in interdisciplinary research teams would be considered an asset.
