The First World Congress of Global Partnership for Young Women, Korea

Duksung Women’s University and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) are holding the First World Congress of Global Partnership for Young Women and the Second Global Partnership Forum under the title of “Sharing Together: A Sustainable Global Partnership for Gender Equality and Young Women’s Empowerment”

We invite young global leaders from Asian and African universities who have interest in global and gender issues to join our world congress. All travel costs including roundtrip airfare, room and board will be covered by the organizing committee.

Theme: Sharing Together ―Sustainable Global Partnership for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment
Date: August 10 - 13, 2012
Co-host: UN Women & Duksung Women’s University
Venue: Duksung Women’s University & Lotte Hotel
Participants: About 100 women leaders (Executive Director of UN Women, leaders of financial, political, and academic circles), about 1,000 students (university students from 100 universities from 20 countries in Asia and 8 countries in Africa)
Features
- Networking of young women from Asia and Africa
- Participants on the basis of partner relationships
- Seeking solutions to women’s issues in the viewpoint of women

Supports: The organizing committee will provide a return air ticket (economy class), accommodation (4 people or 2 people in a room), meals, and local transportation. The organizing committee will make a flight reservation for each participant and send the ticket to the participant. The best teams of each competition session will be awarded the ‘Best Partner Team’ with a $1,000 prize.

Who can apply?
A. A prospective applicant to the Congress should be a undergraduate student, aged more than 18 years old, in Asia and 8 countries of Africa (Cameroon, Congo (Republic of), Ethiopia, Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe). An applicant who is affiliated with a non-governmental and non-commercial organization is also eligible to apply with the recommendation letter of the president of the institution/organization.
B. Those from the countries other than listed above may be entitled to participate in the Congress on their own travel budget.
