The Section of International and Public Affairs (IPA) at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Korea, is planning to host anGobal Intern Program in Science and Technology for 2013.
The primary objective of the Global Intern Program is to carry out research and provide training related to science and technology.
IPA has worked to organize an International Intern Program once a year, offering students from various countries the opportunity to participate in six weeks training course at GIST. This year, we are seeking highly qualified intern students for the Summer Semesters.
The International Intern Program is designed to provide knowledge and skills related to science and technology in the areas of
1) Information and Communications,
2) Materials Science and Engineering,
3) Mechatronics,
4) Environmental Science and Engineering,
5) Life Sciences,
6) Nanobio Materials and Engineering,
7) Physics and Photon Science, and
8) Medical System Engineering.
- Participants of the Program will be assigned to a department laboratory and receive their research training and coursework under the supervision of the professor in charge of the laboratory.
- Information regarding department labs and courses offered can be obtained from the GIST website(www.gist.ac.kr). Applicants should select from the participating laboratories in order of interest andfill in the application form ranking their interests in order of priority.
- Support for the participants
â One-way airfare (economy class).
â Dormitory accommodation (two persons per room).
â Stipend of 450,000 Korean Won (approximately $400)
Last Date to apply : February 28th, 2013
Applicants should be graduate students or current students of a university in their home country. So, the people , who have graduated can also apply
Tips to apply
1) Days are few to apply, so email professors, by using the guide below
1) Please , please read the research papers and publications of professor first before applying, so that you may know that if you can work in his lab
2) make your resume according to his work,if you have done already, so that he may find you useful for him
3) Always write the things in resume which you know, dun write the things which you dun know
4) Always explain the research work done or internships or projects in resume by mentioning the technical work done by you .It should be like just . I did xyz project ..you should explain technically what you did
2) Apply directly also in the program,even if you dun get the recommendation, by fulfilling the requirements given on the website. As getting recommendation from professor ,only ensures that you will surly get the internship
3) apply here must, as there is chance of MS/PhD , if you perform well in internship there
